Dont blame me!!! Blame your vice captains, Hugh and Felim!! This was their suggestion, I just fleshed it out a bit ;-))
This week we get lumpy!!
After that easy, flat spin to Emo last weekend, with its long coffee break and big cakes with cream and jam. And a generous tail wind to get us home. This week we need to work some of that stuff off! Well! Thats what they said!! And , as you all know I am always listening to the opinions of our group.
Ok! Now that I have absolved myself of any blame or retribution here….. we take an easy, out to Dunlavin and up by the graveyard to the N81. Turning right for a few K’s we swing a left, straight into a lumpy bit.
On this route you have to keep reminding yourself that God was good! For every uphill he challenged us with, he gave us an equal and corresponding downhill. Just keep saying it!
Knockanarrigan is our first opportunity for a coffee stop. After having had a coffee there today, our coffee shop review will be interesting. Next possibility is the shop in Donard! Speaks for itself. Needless to say there will be no long lazy, dont wanna leave, coffee break on this trip.
Down through the pleasand Holywood Glen and returning to the N81 for a short stint before a swing into Holywood and we will take on the Hill!
Followed by a lovely long downhill to the Kings River and over to Valleymount, Blessington and home.
There are lots of possible turn off points for those who, for whatever reason want an early finish. Dunlavin is a possibility, after that straight up the N81 to Blessington is another and those reneging on Holywood hill can turn for Ballymore or Blessington.
Plans are afoot in the c group for a possible 120km route before the Tour de Foothills on 12th April, so this will be good preparation for that. More about that anon!
Weather is forecast to be good for the weekend. Springlike i hope and hopefully we will be riding high after Irelands win against Wales on Saturday. So all in all should be an ok weekend. On a serious note and for the safety of all.
All riders should have their membership paid up by now. If its a case you have not been listening over these last weeks and havent yet!! PLEASE STAY HOME!!!
Bring water, food and some money for coffee. Next of kin id.
We had a number of punctures last weekend which left us home very late. Please ensure proper tyre inflation pressures before leaving home. Stating the obvious but bring spare tubes (2), tyre levers, and pump.
