C Group ride for Sunday 14th October 2018
Sunday we do Terry’s route. Its a flattish 95km route a modest 420m of hilly bits. Terry has also included an early turn-off making it an 80km spin for anyone wanting an early exit.
Sunday seems to be the best of a wild weekend after storm Callum so we should take advantage of that. Wind should be from the SW so we will have wind assisted on the way home.
This week we will be implementing some stuff we picked up at the recent training day. Things we had been doing but things we just need to brush up on again.
We will be concentrating on tidy formation cycling, reducing the group size and operating a sweeper system were the sweeper will be watching out for our rears, making calls and looking after our safety. Don’t take it personally if you are called for, white-lining, or other unsafe practices. Its all about getting us home safe.
One thing we learned too, was that a proper cycling water bottle is specifically designed, not only to fit properly onto your bottle carrier but also, if it falls and is run over by a bike, is designed to burst, limiting its hazardous nature. With this in mind, Ballygowan bottles, aluminium designer water bottles or any bottle which is not a proper well fitting cycling bottle will not be permitted in the group.
Enjoy the route and be safe.
Road ID, money, phone, lights.
See you Sunday
