Tuesday 25th July 2017 was a warm evening at Corkagh Park . The racing was exciting in first race off was the B race which had 14 riders .
The B+ saw the Lucan pair of Sonya Earls and Clara Fitzsimons Annie Roche & Irene Yeriskin both of ( Scott Orwell Wheelers CC ) Toni Byrne ( Swords CC ) and Eva Mc Kenna ( Clane CC ) .

This group set off with a one minute lead on the B's which included Eva Brennan ( Deenside Wheelers ) Julie Egan of the Host Club (Naas CC ) Susan Fagan ( Clontarf CC ) Lyndsey O'Neill ( Maynooth CC ) Jenny Neenan (NRPT ) and Maeve O 'Grady .

The B+ group set about their task and began in a good fashion but after a couple of laps the Scott Orwell pair of Annie Roche and Irene Yeriskin forged ahead of their 5 rivals they quickly gained an advantage of 20 seconds which was gained upon initially by the two Scott Orwell riders who worked in harmony for the most part of their escape . The move looked like bearing fruit for several laps of the 5 closest chasers two were in trouble perhaps from the surge in tempo set by the leaders ,

The B's for a long time rode steady and gave the impression of not firing on all cylinders but this was put right by the senior rider in their midst Maeve O'Grady who galvanised the group who knuckled down well to the task and steadily reeled in the two escapees nearing the end of the race .

The winner was the recently crowned U/14 XC MTB National Champion Caoimhe May ( Scott Orwell Wheelers CC ) closely followed by the very much in form U/16 Deenside Wheeler Eva Brennan third spot was taken by the closest of margins by Julie Egan from Lyndsey O Neill ( Maynooth CC ) .

It was nice to see the experienced rider Toni Byrne (Swords CC ) mentoring the less experienced riders during the race , Other positives were observed the continued good form this evening of Susan Fagan ( Clontarf CC ) not very far away at the line , New comers Mary Ambrose stuck to her task well as did Jenny Neenan .

The A race saw 7 women line up they were Monica Freiband & Ciara Ni Fhlathartaigh both ( Scott Orwell Wheelers CC ) Fiona Guihen ( Black Rose CC ) Beata Golczak ( Arcane CC) Niamh Stephens ( TC Racing )Lyndsey Bryce (DWCC) and Emily-Anne Doyle ( Naas CC )

The seven set off together each rider contributing the pace remained high throughout the contest . Monica Freiband took a couple of chances trying to get clear of the group but was brough back both times . Beata Golczak ( Arcane CC ) rode in her usual determined fashion and was awarded the most combative rider award for her efforts . The rider who took the eye was Fiona Guihen who has been in fine form of late and with 4 laps remaining she rode off the front there was a stall behind which played to Guihens advantage she continued riding away . She recorded a fine victory soloing to the chequered flag with ease . Lyndsey Bryce stormed up the home straight to take the runner up spot , Monica Freiband edged out Beata Golczak by millimetres for third spot ,
