The Sally Gap and The Wicklow Gap are two of the best known climbs in Ireland and both are featured in this 100k tour with a total of 782m (1596ft) of climbing.
The Twin Peaks Challenge climbs the Sally Gap from the Manor Kilbride direction which is arguably not the most difficult but keep reminding yourself of that fact as you hit the last 200 m.
We reckon that after the Sally Gap you deserve a decent descent. The Military road to Laragh does not give you this but if you go straight on through the crossroads you do get a nice downhill. Unfortunately you then have to climb Lugala but it’s worth it.
The Wicklow Gap is climbed from the Laragh side which means you are climbing steeply for 6km without any relief following part of the route used in the 1998 Tour De France.
